Erin products have been enjoyed in Irish households for over four decades. Despite been a long established Irish brand, Erin has embraced international cuisine so that you can easily re-create these delicious dishes in the comfort of your own home. Erin brings you dishes which originate from all corners of the globe...such as France, Italy and even Russia! From Russia with love, Erin brings you Beef Stroganoff. Then we have the much loved French dish- Beef Bourguignon. Not to mention the Italian job...Spaghetti Bolognese.

The name Erin is of Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "Ireland" or from Éirinn and Éire. It is the poetic name for the island used in songs and poems.

Gravy

Did you know that gravy is thought to have originated in Egypt around 3000 B.C? Although Erin has been around a long time, unfortunately the Egyptians didn't get the pleasure of enjoying Erin Gravy Rich.

Chocolate gravy is very popular in Southern United States. It is a variety of gravy made with cocoa powder! But don't worry, at Erin we know how much you love Erin Gravy Rich just the way it is, so we have no plans to add chocolate just yet!

Curry Sauce

Did you know that various studies claim that the body's reaction of pain receptors to hotter ingredients in curries can lead to the body's release of endorphins? Basically, a series of complex sensory reactions to the various spices and flavours gives the body a natural high. From this, the body develops subsequent cravings, which can often lead to a desire to try hotter curries.

Spaghetti Bolognese

Did you know that although Bolognese sauce is commonly believed to be a tomato-based sauce, the authentic recipe only contains a small amount of tomato. As you may know, the dish originated in Bologna, Italy. However, the people of Bologna traditionally serve their famous Bolognese with freshly made tagliatelle, not spaghetti, as we commonly eat it in Ireland.

Shepard's Pie

Did you know that Shepherd's Pie is supposed to be made with lamb mince. It is a variation of Cottage Pie which is made with beef mince. However, in Ireland we tend to make Shepherd's Pie with beef mince instead! A similar dish in the United States is called cowboy pie. I think we'll stick with our term, since you are more likely to see shepherd's and not cowboys on the green pastures of the Emerald Isle!

Stew

Did you know that stews have been made since prehistoric times. Archaeological evidence suggests that primitive tribes used to boil meat, water and vegetables together as a prelude to mating rituals. In fact, the shells of turtles were used by Amazonian tribes as vessels to boil turtle meat and various other ingredients in them, dating back to over 8,000 years ago. Thankfully, we value our turtles as pets nowadays and have moved on to using cooking pans and dishes instead!

Rice

Did you know that Rice, as a grain, has the second highest worldwide production. This is second to it's sibling maize (corn). In Asia, Rice is the most important crop. For example, in Cambodia a staggering 90% of the total agricultural area is used for rice production. The Asian population really enjoy their rice, with the average Asian consumer eating 150 kg of rice annually compared to their European counterpart who eats 5 kg. It's no surprise that the words for 'food' and 'rice' are identical, in several Asian languages.

Marrowfat Peas

Did you know that Marrowfat Peas are actually grown up green peas? Yes, that's right, they are mature peas that have been allowed to take some extra time to dry out naturally in the field. Normal garden peas are harvested in the prime of their youth so never actually get the chance to be selected to become an Erin Marrowfat Pea.
